THE PaPER INDUSTRY

The pulp and paper industry operates “kraft” mills that require enormous amounts of energy to produce paper-related products. As an industry, paper and pulp mills have also made considerable investments in air pollution control systems to reduce emissions and be within all state and federal permit requirements. TDF is a desirable low cost alternative fuel for paper mill boilers. TDF is blended with biomass fuel which replaces a percentage of the natural gas utilized in the boiler, providing significant fuel savings while meeting all air emission requirements.

Utility/​COGENERATION

As utility/cogeneration plants have converted from coal (high BTU) to biomass (low BTU), TDF has become the preferred alternative fuel for improved boiler performance and fuel savings. M.A. Associates works with existing plants, as well as new and/or proposed plants, to offer a consistent TDF supply for these plants. 

Steel mills​/​electric arc furnace

EAF steel mills use both steel tire wire as a raw material and tire shred as a carbon replacement in their steel making process.  M.A. Associates works with steel mills to provide the highest quality material, based upon their production needs, at an affordable cost.

the cement industry

Cement kilns have the unique ability to burn a large variety of waste fuels, including whole and shredded tires. Since fuel costs represent a large percentage of total cost to produce cement, these companies have installed waste fuel systems that maximize fuel savings and revenue. TDF is a natural choice for many cement kilns because it is cost-effective.
